Fiano is a heat-loving grape that thrives in warm, sunny climates. This makes it particularly well-suited to hotter regions like the Barossa, where it can easily produce balanced wines with natural richness. In recent years, Fiano has been gaining a solid reputation in Australia, largely due to its impressive ability to retain acidity even under warmer growing conditions.
The 2026 growing season saw a cooler, wetter spring, with later budburst and flowering and variable fruit set. Summer turned warm and dry, including a late January heatwave, with loose bunches and small berries common across many vineyards.
Rain arrived in early March, bringing some disease pressure and reducing yields in some vineyards, before dry conditions returned. Despite a challenging season, overall quality is looking very good.
Fragrant white florals lead into fresh custard apple, Golden Delicious apple and poached pear. The palate is fleshy and rounded, revealing flavours of baked apple and white peach, complemented by subtle notes of almond kernel. Bright grapefruit acidity brings freshness and drive, balancing the generous fruit profile and carrying through to a clean, persistent finish.
