2024 Bin 75 Shiraz

“This vintage is one of the birthday milestone bottlings to celebrate my 75th Birthday and another one of the best wines that I have produced.” Rob Gibson. As Rob puts it, “Bin 75 is the most personal of them all,” a wine made with time in mind, to lay down, to age and to open on special occasions.

31% of the blend is produced from low yielding vines planted in 1910 (centenarian vines). Barrel selection of 2024 reds across 5 different parcels, highlighting Northern Barossa cooler climates and Northern Eden Valley. All vine sources are low yielding.

A cool, mild season with well-below-average rainfall and a late start, followed by ideal conditions through a condensed harvest. Shiraz yields were light, but fruit expression was well above average, with very good varietal character from each of our sites. The reds are medium-bodied with a classy phenolic backbone, which bodes well for their future.

Colour: Deep crimson with a vibrant purple hue

Aroma: Concentrated dark fruits and satsuma plum lead the nose, layered with savoury spice and freshly cracked black pepper

 Palate: The palate is rich and generous, with persistent, sweet fruit on entry and a finely structured mid-palate. Spicy oak and hints of cedar are seamlessly integrated, adding complexity to the dense core of dark fruit and dark chocolate. Excellent balance and persistence, with subtle notes of vanilla bean and an effortless, finely grained tannin structure carrying the wine through a long, seamless finish.
