Good food and wine is best shared in great company. That is exactly what Rob and Rebekka Gibson (R & R) did to celebrate their marriage.
R & R battled the ups and downs of planning a wedding during COVID. They opted for an intimate ceremony and reception in Cairns with six of their nearest and dearest, including some guests via Zoom.
“After being engaged for just over a year, the uncertainty of COVID meant it would be hard to plan a wedding with our friends and family from around the world,” Rebekka said.
“The decision was to have a small ceremony on the beach in Cairns, where Rob’s family is from and his parents still live.”
Their day was very relaxed, not your typical wedding scene. It started with a big Aussie breakfast and a swim. The ceremony was held in the last afternoon followed by some photo time, by the talented Isaac at Perspectives Photography, and then their special dinner.
“Our dinner was catered for by a private chef and accompanied by top notch wines from our family’s cellar, including one of our favourites – Gibson Wines,” Rebekka said.
And no, not just because of the namesake. The family is a huge fan of Barossa wines, Gibson fortunate to have a place in this favourite list.
That night made a big dent in their current selection of Gibson Wines, but they still have many more to enjoy once they can celebrate together with family and friends from overseas.
“The highlight of the evening was a 2018 Dirtman magnum signed by Gibbo himself when we visited Gibson’s winery for Rob’s 30th birthday,” Rebekka said.
Thank you, Rob and Rebekka, for letting us be part of your special day. It means the world to us!
