GibsonReserve Merlot

2018 Merlot

Barossa, SA

Intense aromas of sweet spices, violets and plums, with a richly complex dark cherry, plum and chocolate-laden mid palate.

From $55.00 per bottle

    Description

Inspired by some of the great wines of Right Bank Bordeaux, our Reserve Merlot is the pinnacle expression of the variety from both our Burkes Hill and Light Pass vineyards.

Merlot is particularly averse to frosts, wind and heat. As such, we only release this bottling in the years we deem it suitable as holding Reserve status.

Very deep purple colour, our 2018 Reserve Merlot shows intense aromas of sweet spices, violets and plums. The palate delivers a richly flavoured and complex dark cherry, plum and chocolate-laden mid palate. Chewy tannin, anise and dark chocolate persist on the finish. A wine of impressive structure that will enable further development in bottle for years to come.
