"COMPLEXITY IN FRENCH"

GIBSON Wines

 NATURAL.  EARTH.  FLAVOUR.

2008 Gibson Eden Valley Riesling

Vintage Comments:  A warm start gave good early growth and leaf area and a cool November enabled a good set and high flavour potential. This was realised for all varieties harvested prior to the worst heatwave on record for the first 3 weeks in March. This Riesling ripened early for a cool district and was picked at it’s peak just before the heatwave.

Tasting Note:  Brilliant pale white with green tints. A delicate aroma of orange blossum and honeysuckle. Lovely powdery texture and fine lime/lemon flavours with harmonious fresh acidity and lingering green apples and mineral flavours.

2006 Gibson Merlot

Tasting Note:  Medium red with purple hue.  Lifted spicy aromas of black fruit followed by a mouthfilling juicy palate full of dried plum/prune flavours balanced with soft dark cocolate tannins.
Lingering flavours of orange rind, prunes and cherries persist.

2006 Gibson Reserve Merlot

Barossa Merlot 61%, Adelaide Hills Merlot 28%, Adelaide Hills Cabernet 5%, Barossa Cabernet 6%

Tasting Note: Dense deep red color.  Complex aromas of orange blossum, clove and marzipan lead to an incredibly textured silkiness on the palate.  Lively flavours of lemon zest and ripe black cherries abound and harmoniously entertain whilst leaving with a courteous finish of deep dark chocolate.

2004 Gibson Isabelle Blend

Merlot 57%, Cabernet Sauvignon 38%, Petit Verdot 5%

Vintage Comments: An exemplary Barossa season, slightly warm in November & December, but a very cool January.  Yields were good & styles were fine.  Cabernet Sauvignon showed more cassis than normal.  The Merlot ripened well producing complex aromatic characteristics and round palate with supple trade mark tannins.

Tasting Note: Deep opaque purple colour.  Fine aromas of cassis and cherry with hints of vanilla and mocha.  A seamless fruit driven palate with medium to full body shows ample vinosity.  Complex notes of plum and spice integrate with savoury herb and leather.  The wine is well balanced with natural tannin having a decisive finish with lingering flavours.

2005 Gibson Wilfreda Blend

Shiraz 50%, Mourvedre 27%, Grenache 23%

Vintage Comment: Shiraz was more chocolate.  The Mourvedre ripened well producing complex aromatic characteristics and the Grenache was exceptional.

Tasting Note: Deep opaque purple colour.  Fine aromas of pepper and spice, vanilla & leather.  A seamless palate with medium body showing ample complex flavours of quince, tea leaf & leather.  The wine is well balanced with natural tannin having a soft lingering finish.

2005 Gibson Dirtman Shiraz

Vintage Comment:  A Barossa season with rapid ripening, cool in November & December, but warm in January. Yields were good & styles were big & fleshy. Shiraz was plummy in flavour.

Tasting Note:  Violet with purple hue. Sweet spice Shiraz characters on the nose with interesting notes of vanilla and anise.  The palate is powerful, round & juicy and shows all the hallmarks of good Shiraz treated with sensitivity to produce a great wine with aging potential. It shows generous sweet fruit balance with perfect acidity and fine dry tannins. The balance and finish is harmonious and lovely fruit and sweet fruit flavours linger on the palate.
